TS. Nguyễn Quang Uy nhận bằng TS năm 2011 tại trường đại học Dublin, cộng hóa Ai len. Hiện nay TS Nguyễn Quang Uy là giảng viên chính tại Khoa CNTT - Học viện KTQS. TS. Nguyễn Quang Uy được cộng đồng nghiên cứu về lập trình di truyền (Genetic Programming) công nhận là một trong những người có đóng góp chính cho sự phát triển của các phương pháp ngữ nghĩa trong lập trình di truyền (*). Một trong những bài báo của TS. Nguyễn Quang Uy đã nhận được hơn 100 lượt trích dấn sau 4 năm từ khi công bố (**). 

Một số hướng nghiên cứu chính của TS Nguyễn Quang Uy bao gồm: Lập trình di truyền (Genetic Programming), Tính toán tiến hóa (Evolutionary Computation), học máy (Machine Learning), Khai phá dữ liệu trong cloud computing (Data mining in cloud computing) và khai phá dữ liệu trong an toàn thông tin (data mining in information security).
